Welcome to Pawtraits by Andrew. Andrew is a Shropshire based photographer with a 40yr history behind him and has worked internationally. Now you will find him offer what is, arguably, the best contemporary pet photography available.

Every portrait session is individual to you and your pet. We take great pride in making this as pleasurable experience for all involved, especially your pet.
The session will start with care and patience to get your pet to relax.
Once ready I will try to get the photographs done as quickly as possible as the sitters can sometimes be a little impatient.
The images from the session are then given a basic edit which you can view. From this edit you can choose what you want to do next. Order prints, frame prints, the choice is yours. I can guide you through a choice of framing options to suit you, your home and lifestyle.
The chosen images then get a final edit. This is where I use my magic to make your loved one look the very best they can , retouching the Kardashians would be proud of!
Then the final images are sent off to be printed and framed in the frame of your choice and delivered to you within 10days.

The Session
I will work to gain the trust of your pet but ask that you bring favourite treats and toys to the session to encourage cooperation. In a calm and relaxed way I will try to get the photography completed in about 30min to an hour, any longer and the sitter will start to get bored.
Booking a session is simple. Just use the contact details at the base of this page or call me direct. I do ask for a £75 booking fee*. This is credited against the cost of your order of final art exceeding in £250.
*If a discount is offered only the discounted booking fee is refunded.

Home Sessions
There is no doubt that the best place to photograph your pet is at my studio bit it may be that you don’t feel comfortable with that. If this is the case I will travel to you. For this there is a booking fee of £149 with £50 of that a credit against your first order.
If I come to you I will need the space to work and set up. A clear area with a level floor about 10 x 10 feet is just about enough for a pet up to the size of a Labrador.

Andrew was so patient with our exuberant miniature long haired dachshunds, he was calm and appreciated the whole time that they are still dogs and part of their character. He strived to get the images that we needed and communication has been fantastic. We will definatley be returning with our other dogs as well as recommending to our other doggie friends.

The Viewing
The initial viewing of your images takes place in the comfort of your own home through a shared private gallery that you login into. You can also share this gallery with friends and family, possibly, to get their opinion, but be careful this may just make your choice harder. Depending on how the photo session went you will get to view approximately 30 images sometimes less, but always enough to make choosing difficult.
Each image will have had an initial edit to give a good crop and look to it. At this point its the pose and expression you should be looking for. The rest, such as tidying up the background or retouching stray hairs etc, is what we do to the final edit before printing.
Choose your prints and /or framing and place your order. Its a simple as that. Unsure of what you want or the best treatments for the final choice of art? Then speak with us to guide you.

The Cost
You are free to choose how much or how little you want to spend. Don’t think of this as an expenditure though, rather consider it to be an investment
Prints can start from as little under £50 with wall costing more depending on your choice of framing and finish. I am confident that however much you spend you will leave us happy. On average clients spend between £300 and £800.

The Editing
Each raw image shot during the Pawtrait session goes through at least three stages of editing and retouching before it is ready to be printed for you.
Everything is done to ensure your furry friend looks their best, even if some of the retouching is not apparent to you.
It’s one thing having a beautiful companion, it’s another thing living with beautiful wall art. During the final editing process, Contemporary or Art, we may touch on more than 100 points to remove dust on the coat, errant hairs, pieces of dog treat, etc. Things you would never see on your constantly moving pet, but you certainly come your attention as you live with the image for years to come.
The Contemporary Edit
With the contemporary Edit we take your chosen images and ‘beautify’ them. The best crop is made to the chosen format, errant hairs may be removed, evidence of those little treats magically disappear, and the back ground is cleaned up, but essentially the final image is that which was captured at the time of the original session.
The Art Edit
With the art Edit we take your chosen images and ‘beautify’ them. and then go a step further.
In agreement and discussion with you we add treatments that turn a beautiful and characterful image of your furry friend into a piece of art.
Background colours may be changed, multiple images merged into a single art work or a treatment given to the original image to lift it to another level. To a piece of wall art.
Prices for this edit will be discussed with you before you place your order. This can range from £50 to £200 per image edited, depending on what is required.
You will also receive updated edits to approve before the file is sent to our printers.

Digital Files
It is the 21st Century and we all have to move with the times. So Pawtraits by Andrew has a digital files images. You chosen images are carefully edited and retouched and then supplied as high resolution files that you can use as you wish, to print, share or on social media but not for commercial use. The files are available in 3 packages of 3, 5, and 7 images or as part of the digital package.
The right size for you
It can be hard to choose the right size wall art for you home and it can be very disappointing to take home a beautifully framed image only to find it gets lost on your wall.
I usually recommend up to 20x20cm including the frame for desk art and nothing smaller that 40x30cm for wall art.
If you are not sure then lightly stick and A3 piece of paper on the wall where you would like to see your finished work. email that to us and we will work our magic and show you what your chosen image will look like.
Printing and Framing
Printing
Our printing is undertaken by the very best in the business and is based in central Germany, a country renowned for its printing prowess. The lab was voted best photo lab in the world in 2013, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2023 & 2024.
Prints are available as the highest quality Giclee prints.
Giclee Art Prints
All Framed orders are made with Giclee printing technology with the exception of the ultra modern Acrylic prints
Photos on fine art paper are particularly high-quality. It is suitable for Colour and Black and white images. The heavy weight paper soft gloss finish and depth of colour, tone and contrast are best protected in a quality frame.
Framing
Our framing is undertaken by the very best in the business and was voted best photo lab in the world in 2013, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2023 & 2024.
A variety of frames and sizes are available. We can also discus special requirements if you don’t see what you are looking for.
Frames vary in style form the ultra modern acrylic mounts that are slime had have the print integrated to the ultra glossy acrylic glass for protection through to the more traditional Solid wood frames with exhibition quality card mounts.
All frames come ready to hang so all you have to do is enjoy.
